9 Actresses Who Need to Audition For Wonder Woman

With WonderCon coming up this weekend, we got to thinking about our favorite comic book heroine, Wonder Woman. We thought we'd join the chatter about who should play the title role in the upcoming movie, slated for release in 2011. First there was the hoax that named Megan Fox the new Wonder Woman, and then the declaration from Beyoncé that she should be cast as our beloved brunette. From Kate Beckinsale and Sandra Bullock, the casting of this iconic character has become a Hollywood conundrum. This has us digging deep and wondering just who should play our Amazon Princess. Lynda Carter's red boots won't be easy to fill, but a stretch of our imagination produced these picks for the new Wonder Woman.
9. Megan Fox

After she exploded onto the scene with Transformers, people have been obsessed with seeing Megan Fox in as little clothing as possible. She's been compared to Angelina Jolie because of the striking blue eyes, brown hair, and tattoos. Of course, she's not Oscar material, but since Joss Whedon left the project, this film could very well go the way of Batman and Robin. In which case, who cares how she acts? She looks like the perfect Wonder Woman.

8. Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson auditioned for this role while she was still on The O.C. Seducing her geeky co-star, Adam Brody, she donned the famous one-piece and excited nerds (well, the ones who actually watched The O.C.) all over the country. She definitely has a small buzz in Hollywood, especially after the success of Jumper, and would make a young, airy Wonder Woman. She would be a great choice if they want an up-and-comer.

7. Jessica Alba

Okay, we admit, there might be a conflict of interest because of the Fantastic Four series, but we think Jessica Alba would make a hot Wonder Woman. She wasn't our favorite choice for Susan Storm, and we think this would redeem her comic book cred. Acting-wise she's a little one-dimensional for our taste, but at least she'll look terrific in the outfit and her bubbly portrayal could give the film a wider appeal.

6. Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel has been searching for her mega-star breakout role, and this could be it. She's already got the body of an Amazon, and just the announcement that she's going to strip down for Powder Blue sent the Internet into a frenzy. She's still got the right type of mainstream appeal that could make this film a blockbuster, and her film acting is still relatively unknown. She could mold the character with a clean slate.

5. Jennifer Garner

Ever since the success of Alias, Jennifer Garner has never been able to shake her reputation of being an ass-kicking siren. We doubt that there is another woman in Hollywood who could come across as tough and vulnerable as she can. Once primed to be the next Julia Roberts, Jen was on the brink of superstardom when she decided to put her family first. While that's a very down-to-Earth and noble choice for a celebrity, we think it's time for Jen to make her comeback and let Ben play Mr. Mom.

4. Anne Hathaway

With her recent Oscar nomination, Anne Hathaway has proved that she’s a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. She's both a classic beauty and a talented actress. We think she could elevate the role of Wonder Woman in the same way that Christian Bale did for Batman. Her acting chops and resume brings a level of credibility, while her real-life personality makes her even more attractive to movie-goers. On the flip-side, this role could propel her into being an international sensation. She's young and talented enough to build a lasting superhero franchise that is enjoyable for even the pickiest of comic book fans.

3. Angelina Jolie

The most wanted and interesting woman in Hollywood, we think Angelina Jolie would make an amazing Wonder Woman. Her smoldering looks, sex appeal, and acting abilities puts her near the top of any casting list. If there is any actress out there that could make this movie a blockbuster, it would be her. We already know from Tomb Raider that she's physically up to the job, and she would also bring complexity to the character and push beyond the typical superhero movie. She could definitely fit the bill, much in the way that Robert Downey, Jr. fit Iron Man.

2. Kristen Bell

Unlike some of the other actresses on the list, she's not the first choice for filling out the famous D-cup. However, there is just something about Kristen that would make her an excellent choice. Perhaps it's because she's like the pretty girl at school that the nerdy guys can hang with. She's also one of the most beloved women on the Sci-Fi scene, and for good reason. With her involvement with projects like Fanboys, the TV series Heroes, and the video game Assassin's Creed, there is no doubt that she has found her audience. If Comic-Con were the prom, Kristen Bell would be the prom queen. And that's why she'd make a great Wonder Woman.

1. Scarlett Johansson

There is no denying that Scarlett Johansson is one of the hottest women in Hollywood. She’s proven her willingness to join a comic book film by signing on to The Spirit, and she's got the perfect curves to be Wonder Woman. She's not known for being a tough girl, but she could exploit her success in Lost In Translation and bring the emo to the Amazon. The producers could focus on dark character development and an awkward love connection. If there’s one thing that spells successful in Hollywood, it’s hormone-inspired movie goers. We think Miss Johansson can definitely inspire the comic book reading crowd.
